With Nicola Formichetti in the creative driving seat and designer Roman Kremer designing the menswear collection, the re-envisioned Mugler brand is still on its early but progressive journey.
The new collection for Summer 2013 focused on super sharp tailoring, with cut outs on suits to reveal the body underneath. Strong shoulders rooted the collection that was more wearable than previous outings, and with as a sense that the brand was facing up to reality.
Inspired by the sea, the aquatic references came in either monochrome - with the exception of a few suits that came in blue and vibrant orange. Yellow and turquoise snakeskin textures were utilized on summer footwear and accessories.
A positive move forwards for the Formichetti and Kremer collaboration which saw the design team take on board the need to present commercially viable collections in an environment where there is little shelf space for conceptual explorations that have to real place in contemporary menswear.
