Matthew Miller latest collection continued the designer’s youthful approach to minimalist menswear. Clean silhouettes formed slim-cut, tailored suits that were printed with images of buildings while white shirts had letters laser cut or stitched onto the fabric.

Miller’s ambition was to examine the human in the context of his environment, and the designer incorporated glass, insulation material, and aluminum into his fabrics. Studying everyday objects, materials and processes, Miller wanted to focus on things that tend to go unnoticed but are functional components of everyday life. For example bags made out of insulation - a necessity but not appreciated because it's hidden. Another is a fire blanket, which Miller used in his bomber jackets.

An edited palette of gray, black, cream and brown echoed the urban landscape and presented a coherent sharp and austere collection. Utilitarian menswear is a plausible solution for the urban gent and the fresh formality of Miller‘s contemporary classicism feels fresh and devoid of gratuitous over design - an element that tends to inflict many of the new generation.
