Something shocking happened at Erdem this afternoon. His swan of a girl wore python and a lot of it too! Oh, and a power failure somewhat disrupted the proceedings, taking the lighting and music with it and leaving behind a silent but for the photographers' cursing tent. Not that it disrupted the models' flow - they would have taught those photographers some manners.
Back to the python. Both the powder blue leather zip-up jacket resting on the model's shoulders and the leather shift dress of the opening look featured sleek panels of the skin mingling with soft lace. A long coat with an exposed zip to the front and a big cocoon back was in the same vein and fantastic it was, promising too of a new take on the Erdem woman. But old habits die hard and she was soon back in the gorgeous floral embroidery and lace for which we've come to know and love her. Said embroidery was stunningly beautiful, lovely in bright orange, red and yellow. A sheer panel dotted with yellow velvet floated over a floral print dress, cut away in the midriff. Yet she was at her most interesting when wearing something we haven't seem before from Erdem, like another sheer number, this time an overcoat, pocket lines and zip exposed and embroidered subtly with swirling gold.
'Candy,' sang The Chromatics once the power was quickly restored, 'don't let them in your heart because they'll try to put out every fire you start.' And out we walked into yet another beautiful London garden.
