Panel Discussion: Pyer Moss A/W 21 Haute Couture
SHOWstudio's features editor Hetty Mahlich is joined by Darkwah Kyei-Darkwah and Priya Elan to discuss Kerby Jean-Raymond's Pyer Moss A/W 21 haute couture debut. After becoming the first Black-American designer to be invited by the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode to show on the couture schedule, Jean-Raymond's playful artistry, camp aesthetic and strong political messaging demanded that we rewrite the rules of fashion and couture. The panellists discuss the representations of Black joy and Black trauma in the show, as well as the resounding hopefulness of the collection.
