Day one of the shows saw Thom Browne settle in the Palais Garnier to present his first official couture collection. Asking guests to don their 'best grey' (Mahlich notes the request as part of the invitation), our editor dissects how the brand threw together many elements which were all underpinned by the past and theatre, mirrored through the changing orchestral music, intricate embroidery and the show's overall ceremonial tone, accentuated by the clinking of bells which were attached to all the models' shoes.
