Louise Gray called her collection 'Hey Crazy' but the only crazy thing about it was how seriously good it was! Ok, the nylon carrier bag hats Stephen Jones made for her were a little crazy and yes, there was a loo roll pinned on a coat and some of the models, rollers still in their hair, did wear silver cupcake cases for earrings and roasting trays as bum bags. So, it was crazy but of the good, fun kind.
'I’ve found a confidence in tailoring, and it’s exactly what I want to wear right now', Gray said and those tailored pieces did stand out. In particular the blue and green trouser suit with panels of a ‘Tube Map’ print against black, the coat sharp over skinny trousers – that was crazy good. Prints were bright and clashing on sequinned strappy dresses, some worn over sweatshirts, all teamed with knee-high boots, made in collaboration with Robert Clergerie for the second season. A fluffy mohair sweater in grey, red and green was tucked into a silver foil skirt and a short biker jacket with a double collar had panels of cracked pink leather. That appeared again in the closing look – the leather revealing splashes of green underneath, two small zips giving the top a peplum shape, the back a clashing animal print. A seriously fun collection from a seriously good and clever designer.
