Laura Dern Jumps Aboard The Vivier Express
From a lover on the run in David Lynch's Wild at Heart (1990) to being hunted by dinosaurs in Jurassic Park (1993) Laura Dern's acting résumé is vast. Her characters' wardrobes, whether its that of the ultra-rich outrageous school mum Renata in Big Little Lies or her latest turn in Palm Royale, are never soon forgotten. A style icon both on and off screen, Dern is the new face of Roger Vivier for Vivier Express: Travelling Icons, a brand with it's own history of designing for performers and actresses on the big screen.
Bringing together fashion and film, the campaign firmly nods to the French accessory brand's cinema moments such as Catherine Deneuve's turn wearing the classic buckle shoe in Belle de Jour (1967), a custom ball heel design for Marlene Dietrich and Brigitte Bardot's thigh high Belle Vivier wader boots in 1954. Continuing the brand's long-standing commitment to film, creative director Gherardo Felloni has created host of campaigns in recent years starring actors such as Isabella Rossellini, Isabelle Huppert and Susan Sarandon.Vivier Express: Travelling Icons takes Dern, the I Love Vivier pumps and Viv’ Choc handbag hurtling through the French countryside on a Roger Vivier steam train.
'It’s such a delight to see my friendship with Roger Vivier and Gherardo Felloni blossom into a new project that combines my craft of acting with my love of fashion', Dern says. 'The Vivier Express is such a playful concept that reinterprets so many cinematic tropes with humour and style.'
Directed by Nicolangelo Gerlormini, the first episode of Travelling Icons follows Dern on the plush pink and candied red Vivier Express in Gerlormini's stylised and imagined take on the Roger Vivier universe. Soon, Dern becomes the object of a fellow passenger's affections - or so we think. Watch the film here to find out.
