Abby graduated from Somerset College of Art; while a student her work was published in The Face. Soon after, The Wellington exhibited Foreign Policy a large painting depicting President Bush; his head crudely positioned on a bare breasted dominatrix whipping Tony Blair on all fours. This was a bold step for the posh members club exhibiting such a piece by a recent graduate just months before the Iraq war kicked off.
The painting was later donated to the peace protestor Brian Haw. Passionate about Brians cause for peace Abby knew the painting in all itâs satiricle glory - belonged in Brianâs banner display situated in Parliament Square. This summer the painting was destroyed without warning by the Metropolitan Police in a dawn raid. Her work was loaded into a skip losing the painting along with the artist Banksyâs work & other displays. All of the art work, was donated through the premise of âFree speechâ; this venerable foundation upon which parliament was built. This show of hasty censorship on Labours own door step translates publicly as undermining the views of the people who placed them in power.
Abby's painting has been resurrected by the artist Mark Wallinger as part of the installation 'In State' @ Tate Britain until August 2007
