After studying Art History at Auckland University I moved to Australia to study fashion design at East Sydney Technical College. Worked as a designer & stylist.
In 1986 I moved to Paris to study fashion design & illustration at the Studio Bercot fashion design school, after which I was assistant to the French art director Marc Ascoli, working on fashion shows, editorial styling & catalogues for clients Yohji Yamamoto, Jil Sander, Chloe & Martine Sitbon. Began to make my first professional illustrations for Chloe & Jil Sander, also to create textile print designs & hand painted silk for Katharine Hamnett.
In 1990 became a creative consultant at Escada & for Natalie Acatrini. Since 2001 I have been a creative consultant for Hugo Boss Black Label.
Also since 1990 I have been a freelance illustrator, working with agents in Europe ( Unit ), New York ( Traffic ) and now in Japan ( Art Liasion )
I have had the great fortune to have my work published worldwide in magazines such as Vogue, Elle, Madame Figaro , Glamour & Marie Claire ( to name a few…) Also: Visionaire, Esquire, Cosmopolitan, Vogue Pelle, Vanity Fair Italia, The New Yorker, Monte Carlo Style, etc
Also to have participated in advertising & promotion for such clients as Printemps, Neiman Marcus, Air France, The New York City Opera, Absolut Vodka & Elizabeth Arden. Also: Autore South Sea Pearls, DA Beaute, Gianni Carita Jewellery, The Ginza, Shiseido, SNCF, Les Trois Suisses , BBC, etc.
Illustrated books & book covers for: Penguin Books, Chronicle, Scholastic, Harlequin, Simon & Schuster, etc.
My work has also appeared on everything from buses & billboards to book covers & clothing…& just about any other printable surface one can think of!
