Open Studio 2007 was fun, but draining. I am now resting sculpture for a while and concentrating on 2-D illustration, especially shoes. These could easily turn back into sculptures when I feel inspired.
I am still working with the shapes, colours, labels, cliches and sheer fun and exuberance the fashion world can give. This includes analysing and deconstructing, as well as simply illustrating in 3-D.
My favourite artists are grouped around very sharp graphic styles, and an analytical approach to the content. I am particularly looking at how Michael Craig-Martin's style works in fashion illustration. See "Julien" in my portfolio, where the trousers, sweater and background are all the same colour, to emphasize the jacket.
Please email me if you have any thoughts on the work. I am a member of HVAF and St Albans Art Society and welcome contact from local artists.
Fashion illustration in 2-D, fashion illustration in 3-D (fashion sculpture).
I welcome commisions for fashion illustrations in my angular, "cubist" style for publication in magazines or advertising.
