Roger Hiorns
Glittering Ground
Camden Arts Centre, London
Wednesday, 31st January 2007

Less a performance than a 'happening' where objects and situations were set up by the artist and some responses were choreographed as well as just occuring. In the main artist studio space a giant and very bright light bulb forms an orb-like centre piece that the audience is warned not to over look at. In another part of the building there is a lift, where a man guards a book of sheet music that is lying on the floor. Downstairs in the cafe a woman emerges from behind the curtain, to no great fanfare. Hiorns evening is a made up of a series of unexpected actions and semi-hidden goings on that subtley destabilise an apparently ordinary gallery situation.
