Arsenal
Culver, Sakada and Alan Courtis live performances
Alma Enterprises
Saturday 15th July, 2006

Arsenal is the title of a group show in a new project space on the increasingly art congested Vyner Street, a gallery which takes its name from the previous tenants signage: Alma Enterprises. It’s not clear what enterprise Alma did, but the space is now home to an exploration of “the potential of sound as a weapon” through the prism of artists. On July 15th this thematic was approached from an evening of live performances from contributing artist Mattin, and “drone” improvisation specialists Culver, Alan Courtis and Sakada. Without recourse to costume, lights or other entertainment paraphernalia this really is about the noise, or more specifically the noise of improvisation, but which does result in an interesting sculptural moment with some masking tape.
