Entrants were invited to 'dress to impress' by
heading down to BEAMS in Harajuku to get photographed
for the ULTIMATE fashion knockout.

TOKYO STYLE CLASH was a chance for Toyko’s most stylish to battle it out and find out if they were HOT or NOT? From the 14th until the 16th October, a roster of 9 photographers were set up in the front window of BEAMS' Harajuku store, waiting to take over 1,400 entrants portraits.

All of the photographs were then used to create an interactive game that was played over six weeks on SHOWstudio during October and November 2006. by our celebrity panel and the worldwide SHOWstudio audience, who collectively decided who really has the hottest look in Tokyo!!

A PANEL OF TEN CREATIVE EXPERT SUPERSTARS from the worlds of photography, fashion, design, retail and modeling were chosen to scrutinise and vote on each look. Each will cast their vote by playing the game and then selecting their favourite three entrants. THE QUESTION IS: have you got the same taste as your superstar hero?

The following nine Japanese photographers captured the ‘Hot or Not!’
looks of the stylish Japanese public in the front window of Beams, Harajuku.

ZOREN GOLD & MINORI The Tokyo based photography art duo Zoren Gold & Minori began their creative partnership in 2000. Their first book ‘Object that Dreams’was published in October 2006. (http://www.myspace.com/mi_zo).  KEISUKE NAGOSHI is a Japanese photographer who studied at the Osaka University of the Arts. Born in 1977, Nagoshi moved to the United States at the age of nineteen. He travelled around L.A., Seattle, San Francisco, Canada, and Mexico, photographing squatters from the North American continent. An ongoing project that also took him to Asia and the Philippines, resulting in his first photographic collection ‘EXCUSE ME’, published in 2006. Nagoshi contributes to magazines including ‘Dune’, ‘Vice’ and ‘Lodown’.  AKIHISA OKUMOTO is a photographer who lives and works in Japan. After graduating from the Bantan Design Institute, he joined Studio FOBOS. Okumoto previously worked as an assistant to photographer, Keisuke Naitou. Since October 2004 Okumoto has been working as an independent, freelance photographer.   SHINSUKE KAMIOKA is a photographer who lives and works in Japan. Since graduating from Jyoti University he has been working for various magazines and has worked on a number of advertising campaigns. (http://www.geocities.jp/shinkamioka/)  TOSHI HIRAKAWA Toshi Hirakawa, the Japanese photographer was born in 1972. After graduating from university in Japan, Hirkawa continued his studies abroad in Toronto. On returning to Japan, he continued his training by assisting photographer Yoshihito Sasaguti. Since 2003 he has been working independently and is currently represented by IMC management. (http://www.toshi-h.com/)  GO RELAX E MORE is a collaborative photographic team consisting of five Japanese photographers: Kosei Ishiguro, Junji Ishiguro, Eisuke Fukumochi, Daisuke Miura and Nobuyuki Seki. Established in 2003, ‘Go relax E more’ members also work independently across various photographic fields. (http://www.gorelaxemore.com/).  PAK OK SUN Pak Ok Sun is a photographer who lives and works in Japan. Sun graduated from the Visual Arts Osaka Institute in photography in 1999 and began working at the Roppongi Studio the same year. In 2002 he embarked on an apprenticeship under Kenji Hanzawa. Since 2005 Sun has been working as an independent freelance photographer and is currently represented by Cube. (http://www.cubetokyo.com/).  SHOJI UCHIDA Shoji Uchida is a photographer who lives and works in Japan. His work varies from advertising campaigns and fashion photography to music packaging. He has been awarded a large number of prizes, including the prestigious NY-ADC Award.   REI SHITO Rei Shito is a photographer who lives and works in Japan whose work is based around street life in Tokyo. He works for a number of publications, including ‘Street’, ‘Fruits’ and ‘Tune’ magazines. (http://www.fruits-mg.com/).
