Biography

Marcus Mittermeier is an actor and director, born in Bavaria in 1969. He began his career making several notable television appearances in Germany, however telling his own stories is what drew him into making his first film, 'Muxmäuschenstill'. The film, shot in hand-held documentary 'dogma' style on lo-fi DV-camera, went on to win various awards. The film has been described as a provoking and challenging parody of modern society, as well as being both witty and shocking. It centres on an ex-philosophy student who wants to gain respect of others and abide to all the usual social rules such as being kind and respectful. The result however is extreme as he ends up punishing every person who's wrong, and instead of creating a new moral order, he becomes a sort of dictator. Mittermeier is currently working on a series of documentaries about 'fame'.
