The award-winning architect David Chipperfield trained at the Architectural Association in London and worked for Douglas Stephen, Richard Rogers and Norman Foster before establishing his own firm, David Chipperfield Architects in 1984, which opened an office in Tokyo in 1987. He has since undertaken work in Europe, Japan and the USA with commissions ranging from furniture and interiors to buildings and large-scale urban projects.
