Biography: “After eighteen months at Sherbet, one of London's leading Animation Companies, the elegant mixed media based work of film Director Ali Taylor has attracted a lot of attention. Her work breaks new ground by blurring the boundaries between design, fashion illustration, photography, animation and film making.

“Ali's first film, 'Puleng' based on the story of a family struggling to survive a drought in South Africa, was awarded Best First Film in last year's Annecy Animation Festival. On the strength of 'Puleng', Ali gained the commission for Emilianna Torrini's first promo 'Sunny Road' through Rough Trade Records plus two more commissions for Rough Trade artist Marc Carroll. She then went on to design and direct TV ads for The Corrs' latest Album ³Home,² and Wheat Thins Chips for Nabisco through JWT Chicago. She also designed sumptuous sets for Vivienne Westood's 2005 Spring/Summer collection show in Paris.

“Ali's unabashed hard work has resulted in festival and competition coverage around the world. She was a finalist at the Rushes Soho Shorts Festival 2005, in Music Weeks CAD Music Vision Awards for the promo ' Sunnyroad', and was nominated for Broadcasts Best Young Director of the Year. Ali is currently in production on a fashion and music inspired motion piece featuring live action film, 3D computer generated imagery and hand painted 2D animation to be completed later this year.”

Statement: “The edit is basically a story starring the different characters that I imagined came out of the evening of the show. In the edit I have picked out the large woman with the fantastic boobs as the sexual predator and main character. She randomly seduces men under the watchful eye of Stephanie, the voyeur. The man with the moustache is nothing but a conquest, like the others. The CCTV camera picks up everything, transmitting to Stephanie¹s TV.

“In essence what Galliano was doing was not simply to subvert the fashionista body image, he was also creating a platform for theatricality and opportunity for role play. I have expanded on that fantasy in an alternate reality.”
