Design Download: Junya Watanabe

Perhaps the most coherent and poetic expression of fashion's current fascination with new volumes, restrained silhouettes and Edwardian elegance, Junya Watanabe's Autumn/Winter '05-6 collection suggested a genuinely modern reworking of traditional couture tailoring.

This beautiful dress - part pretty 50s prom-skirt in woven plaid, part punk camisole in red vinyl - offers an unique chance to investigate the fâted Japanese designer's famous 'heavy-duty couture' technique, literally. Download the garment pattern (free-of-charge), print it out and then make up the garment in the fabric of your choosing.

Our challenge to you is then to style yourself (or a friend) in the dress, photograph it and then send your shoot to our gallery.
