An invitation was sent out in early July 2005 to SHOWstudio viewers and contributors alike to send in their favourite garments for this project, which took advantage of SHOWstudio’s global audience to raise money for Oxfam, whilst exploring themes of provenance and recycling in fashion. In addition, they were asked to complete a form that detailed basic information about the item’s original owner and its history. All items received formed the basis of a major fashion shoot for the October 2005 issue of i-D magazine, which was curated by Nick Knight. On 27, 28 & 29 July, a cast of superstylists including Katie Grand, Simon Foxton, Nicola Formichetti, Nancy Rohde, Jonathan Kaye, Katy England, Alister Mackie and Zoe Bedeaux among many others, styled a host of fashion models, actors and dancers including Erin O’Connor, Naomi Campbell, Leo Gregory and Karolina Kurkova using a selection of items submitted by SHOWstudio viewers. After the shoot, all garments were auctioned on eBay (using Nick Knight’s shots from the shoot to advertise each item) to raise money for i-D’s charity of choice, Oxfam.

All our Bring and Buy donations are to be auctioned online through e-Bay for the development agency Oxfam. The auction begins 20:00 GMT Sep 18, and ends 20:00 GMT Sep 25. You will need an eBay account to bid, and a credit/debit card to pay.

All items are to be listed here with full descriptions and images ten days in advance of the Auction start.

After sending us in your favourite garments for over a fortnight, SHOWstudio viewers can see their submissions being styled by a stellar cast of stylists including Katy England, Judy Blame, Venetia Scott, Nicola Formichetti and Alister Mackie on a host of their muses and celebrity models including Tilda Swinton for Nick Knight’s October issue of i-D. Watch events unfold via the live video stream and send in your questions for the team, courtesy of the rolling Q&A.

From stalwart SHOWstudio viewers in Korea, Vancouver and Poland, industry figures including Miuccia Prada, Bernhard Willhelm, Vèronique Branquinho and Walter Van Beirendonck, to international celebrities Tilda Swinton and Björk, you have all been sending us in parcels for the live shoot with i-D magazine for Oxfam on 27, 28 & 29 July 2005. Participate in the parcel opening frenzy, identify the sender and read the story of each garment via these films and submissions forms.

Finally!

Just after seven o'clock yesterday evening, the Björk swan dress went under the hammer (for a second time) and was finally sold for a grand total of £850 at an auction held by Cooper Owen at the Proud Galleries in Camden and on the 'Live Auction' section of eBay. The iconic white chiffon and beaded dress, which was selected by stylists Katy England and Alister Mackie to dress Royal Ballet principle dancer Ivan Putrov for our BRING & BUY fashion shoot in July, was eventually sold to (an incredibly lucky) floor bidder at the auction.
