With two ‘process films’ exploring the twin poles of masculine and feminine that inspired the Aganovich collection, Jez Tozer's resulting video short features designer Nana Aganovich in the main role - a fusion of bullfighter and femme fatale - dressed in her own designs. Echoing the dervishes of a dancer, the camera focuses on Nana as she prepares herself on a revolving stage reminiscent of the circular arena of the bullfight.
Reversing the stripper’s routine she instead dons a series of garments that gradually transform her identity. The more she wears the more she reveals. In this antechamber to her showdown with death the bloodthirsty crowd, recorded at the Plaza del Toros in Pamplona, can be heard in the distance as the drums accelerate. The moment of truth approaches. The estocada. The blindfold drops, the cape drops. It’s the moment of execution, but whose? zeropointzero is both the end and the beginning - a resetting of the dial.Brooke TaylorLast Updated Thursday, 18 September, 2008

Opting out of the frenetic On/Off schedule of London Fashion Week, Nana Aganovich and Brooke Taylor of design label Aganovich have opted to present their latest collection through the medium of film. The resulting work, a collaboration with photographer Jez Tozer, features Nana herself dressed in pieces from the zeropointzero collection. Inspired by exotic dancer and courtesan Mata Hari and drawing Surrealist parallels between her execution for espionage and the mythology surrounding bullfighting, it is a collection of eight pieces, worn separately or layered as one. Tozer’s striking film is accompanied by video shorts that demonstrate the twin themes behind the collection. With writing from Francesca Gavin exploring the themes raised by both the collection and online short, zeropointzero both maps the creative process behind the collection and offers an analysis of its final outcome.
