Musical!
The inruigingly titled performance festival that is taking place in Utrecht, Holland all this week takes its name from Lithuanian-born Anarcho-communist Emma Goldman's engaging phrase 'If I Can't Dance I Don't Want To Be Part of Your Revolution'. It wants to explore the nuance that engagement with social or political change needn't negate the celebratory impulse. Certainly young Dutch artist Alexandra Bachzetsis' offerning was not short of singing and dancing as it choreographed its way around codes of the entertainment business. The revolutionary impulse may have been more in evidence in other performances (which will be posted shortly), but for now click here for a soundful introduction to 'Musical'.
