>THE NOMINEES
By SHOWstudio, 14:13 Tue 05 Jun 2007
Last night our film The Nominees was unveiled before the cream of the US fashion industry at the 25th Anniversary of the CDFA Fashion Awards, held at the magnificent New York Public Library. Of the three nominees showcased by the lithe and lovely Agyness Deyn, it was Oscar de la Renta and Proenza Schouler who scooped the coveted Womenswear Designer of the Year award in a tie.
Other winners included Ralph Lauren, who took Menswear Designer of the Year and Derek Lam the Accessories. Swarovski are the awards' major sponsor and they had three awards of their own: the Womenswear, which was won by Phillip Lim; Mens, which was won by Rag & Bone and the Accessories, which went to Loeffler Randall.
Of course, some awards were determined in advance: Pierre Cardin received the 'International Award', whilst Robert Lee Morris got the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award. No strangers to working together, Ralph Lauren got American Fashion Legend Award and photographer Patrick Demarchelier the Eleanor Lambert Award. The penultimate Eugenia Sheppard award went to fashion writer Robin Givhan before the grand finalé where the Board of Director’s Award was handed to tireless promoter of all things Red, Bono.

With one last tug of her hat and a final cheeky flick of her wrist, the magnificent Agyness Deyn has just finished her last shot. And in one single day become SHOWstudio's favouritest model from Bury of all time. But that's just beginning: now Adam Mufti will take home the footage and begin the edit to ensure the film will be ready in time for the CFDA awards ceremony in June.

Watch from an angle of the shoot they never let you see in the magazines as Nick guides Agyness through her poses on the video monitor, while she models a nudie-coloured Marc Jacobs number. We are just loving that hat!

The Proenza Schouler pieces you can see Agyness modeling for us are from the A/W '07 - a collection of twenties re-interpretations with dresses in jet-embellished chiffon and zigzag pleating. Look out for those patinaed crystal necklines too!

Making light work of an Oscar de la Renta silk dress with embroidered pailettes, Agyness is pacing an illuminated 'catwalk' stage, pulling graphic shapes as she meets the ringflash. The luxurious fabrics and lavish embellishments of OdlR are of course beloved of American lay-dees -and one Editor in Chief of US Vogue among them. So the task here is to make the clothes appear as they would when worn by a girl of Agyness's tender years.

As the clothes we will be shooting today are quite lady-like, Miranda Joyce tells us that she's taking a 'graphic' approach to Agyness's make-up, with a big emphasis on the eyebrows. Though she's no special allegiance to particular brands, Miranda picked out Stella McCartney for skincare, Shu Uemura for powder and the 'good all rounder' MAC for foundation.
