A meeting of minds between Stone Island owner and creative director Carlo Rivetti and Michaela Sachenberger and Erolson Hugh of design team Acronym led to Stone Island's SHADOW project being born. Drawing on Stone Island’s historical archive and forward development resources, Acronym used their technical and performance-based skills to bring the project to fruition for A/W 2008. This unique collaboration has resulted in a 'system', based upon the idea of man’s interface with his environment and resistant to seasonal change.
With inspiration drawn from military garb and active sportswear, items in the collection work within a performance grid consisting of four categories; PROOF, AUGMENT, RESIST and SKIN - inspired by man's interface with his environment. Accordingly, all fabrics used are breathable, moisture managing, and maintainable - stable, sustainable, and easy to care for. SHADOW, the title given to both the collection and this resulting film, underlines the intimate relationship and interaction between this work and the full body of the Stone Island collection.
