QUOTE : ' It is always uncomfortable when fashion takes itself seriously. How can something so much concerned with surface have a political agenda of any depth? Yet other forms of popular culture are allowed to weight themselves without much quibble: film, sport, art, music, comedy.' .....
An interesting and a very true assessment ... although we could argue for ages of the why (s) ... film, art, music, comedy don't fit in the same pigeonhole....
Fashion is not supposed to take itself seriously, it is all about the " superficial ' .... but there are issues in which fashion have deepened itself in ... be it consciously or unconsciously and times have definitely changed !! therefore what was valid in the past may for good be changed by the 'future' .... that is if we are to have one!, and as it has already been said said in this forum.... ' FASHION has to grow up ' ....but one thing is for sure ... People will always want to have FUN ... :) .......
