A fascinating element of Future Tense is the global vision many of the young brands featured seem to have already developed so soon in their careers. Heather Blake’s global view is quite literal – her short sharp shock of a film barely touches forty seconds, but manages to whisk us around both a virtual globe and her own world of inspiration. Exploring same preoccupation and play with negative and positive space that make her footwear designs so interesting, the film takes its cue for her S/S 2008 collection ‘Flow’, expressed through experimental filmmaking techniques, light and movement.
