'Anna' by 6 7/8
Shot with the gritty, grainy quality familiar to anyone with a video-streaming mobile phone, London label 6 7/8’s contribution to Future Tense is a resolutely lo-fi, homegrown affair. There is a hint of voyeurism to its focus on the image of one woman, the eponymous Anna of the films title, but in mirroring and distorting the single, simple image, the film explores geometry, symmetry and perspective – key elements to their equally intriguing clothing designs.
For some reason this seemed very eerie to me; it reminded me of those early Victorian photos of spiritualist meetings.
