>FLOWERS FOR KATE
By SHOWstudio, 17:52 Fri 11 Apr 2008
Nick Knight's 360 degree 'time slice' shots of Kate Moss, captured on our shoot for V last December, may still burn on your retina. But now let the voice of Kate Moss ring in your ears! For the the film they were destined to create is now complete and ready for viewing. With the magazine on the newsstands, this final flowering has come at an opportune time. Flooded with swirling, luminescent colour, hypnotic silhouettes and with Kate's spoken soundtrack of Roddy Lumsden's poem 'Bloom' that he composed on set, horticulture has never seemed quite so fascinating.

Having just finished our final shot, Flowers For Kate is now complete. Kate is packing, and Roddy has departed, following composition of three poems and work on his fourth which will be posted in due course.
The final print results remain an enigma, but let this dramatic whiplash of Yves Saint Laurent mauve satin give you a clue as to the finished article.

One of the perks of working at SHOWstudio is the chance to flick through (and fawn over) racks of clothes still warm from the catwalk. With Kate in make-up, the opportunity is rife for me to rifle through the Rykiel, stroke the Sander and maul the Margiela. The word 'floral' is quite literal - from the Latin floralis, 'of flowers'. Jonathan Kaye's interpretation, however, is rather more abstract: the feminine frippery of sweet-pea tulle and organza contrasting with strong architectural shapes and vivid hothouse colour. And there's barely a sprigged print in sight...

We've shot four looks using the time slice technology, Roddy has gone home to think on his next poem and Kate has retired for the night to get some beauty sleep...we think! We'll be back tomorrow from 11 (UK time) when the 35 'bullet time' cameras (yes, I made a mathematical error and added an extra one in my previous blog!) will be replaced by the faithful 10x8 and we'll be getting down to some good old stills on photographic film. Fancy that!

The germination period is almost over: these images detail the final stages of set designer Glyn Owen’s creation of the unique environment around which to photograph Kate Moss. Watch our live broadcast from 11am tomorrow Wednesday 12th December to observe the final flowering of Nick Knight's Flowers For Kate shoot.
See our very own English rose Ms Moss in the flesh, observe the creative process blooming, and of course find out if your lovingly-amassed flowers made the final cut to be incorporated into the as-yet-mysterious foliate sculpture. Poet Roddy Lumsden will also be writing a piece live on set to be used in the final film based around the shoot.

The deadline for submission of your flowers for our Flowers For Kate project has been extended right up until the shoot date on the 12th and 13th of December. In line with showing the process of the project, Nick has changed his method of how he incorporates the viewers' flowers into the project. So please keep on sending!

First the bouquets, now the bower: Flowers For Kate is quickly coming to full bloom. These abstract interpretations of foliage have been created by set designer Janine Trott as taste of what is to come in the photographic context she is creating for Kate, to be unveiled at our live shoot on the 12th and 13th of December.
Exactly how the photographs of your floral tributes will be applied to this structure remains a mystery, so keep sending your flowers and look forward to the spectacular final results!

The anticipation is over! Our first floral tribute to Kate Moss was leaning up against the front door this morning and has been duly added to the project's new Deliveries gallery. Thanks to an anonymous admirer (chicken!) for kicking off, what we're sure will be, a beautiful gallery or, at the very least, a hotly contested issue in our forums.

As the concept for Nick's 'time-slice photo sculpture' takes root, it's becoming clear that it's not just blowsy blooms that are required but more graphic organic forms too. Nick has selected a few reference images from Neue Sachlichkeit photographer Karl Blossfeld to help germinate ideas for your deliveries for Kate.
