Download one of SHOWstudio's seven exclusive design_download patterns and create your own unique version. A selection of the most accomplished interpretations will be displayed as part of SHOWstudio: Fashion Revolution.
Our first design_download from fashion revolutionary John Galliano appeared on the catwalk in his Autumn/Winter 2001 'Techno Romance' collection. Referencing seventeenth century female buccaneers Ann Bonney and Pirate Queen Marianne, the garment simultaneously spoke of the re-cyclical nature of rebel clothing, a constant theme within Galliano’s work since his graduate collection in 1984. Deceptively deconstructed, the jacket appears to be held together by sail rivets, buckles and ties, but in actual fact is a complex example of corsetry, skilled tailoring and the Couture workmanship that have defined Galliano's contribution to contemporary fashion.
Entries will be judged by a panel of fashion experts including Nick Knight, Alistair O'Neill (Senior Lecturer & Senior Research Fellow of Fashion History and Theory at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design) Penny Martin (Rootstein Hopkins Chair of Fashion Imagery at the London College of Fashion) and Claire Catterall (Curator at Somerset).
The winning garments will be featured in SHOWstudio: Fashion Revolution at Somerset House 18 September - 20 December 2009.
