actually the reason that that would be a good idea would be because it evokes Freud's primal scene where the child walks in to a dark room and all he can hear is his parents making animal noises. how about approaching the noise that clothes make with that in mind? that could make for really powerful advertising.

It's perhaps not as subtle as this Anachoic strand of the Synaesthesia project but... There's a French choreographer (or sound/dance artist?) called Woudi, and a shoot I did for him a while back was of a piece where the costumes his dancers wore were designed to make the sounds they performed to. For example, one garment was made entirely out of 'male' Velcro, which was strong enough to support his body weight so he could 'dance' stuck to a huge vertical carpeted wall. Sounded amazing! And it certainly had me thinking about the sound of clothes afterwards.

[the 'noisy' dress would have to be loud enough to cover all the slurpy sounds though... eeuww!]

Worst clothing sound ever? When you wear them polyester UMBRA or similar sporting pants. The sound they make when the legs rub together at the inseam as you walk.

Brings about images of tough guys in full UMBRA outfits with shaved heads and pants tucked into socks coming back from a bad football match.

Which brings me to think that maybe we prefer clothes that are in fact quiet. So we don't have to deal with trying to hear other things over them.

theres that video director - michel gondry

did video for Daft Punk "all around the world", when all those people in costumes going around in a circle, each costume represented a different instrument (sound)in the song.

crap song but once i saw the video, and understood it, i liked the song a lot better.now whenever i hear the song ( which is still not the best) i think of the idea of the video and kind of like it.
