Did anyone watch this today? I just about caught the first piece (McQueen?), missed the Stella McCartney sequin thing, then had to stop after the Dior dress, but they sounded amazing - materials sounded not the way they seemed to look on screen at all. If that makes sense... no?

Well SHOWstudio, I am flattered that you went to town with this idea. I don't like to make a lot of noise about things like this but this concept was mentioned in my first post on the SHOWstudio forum. I am a bit put out by the fact that I wasn't named in the thanks list. I had more to do with the concept and so-called 'development' than Jonathan Kaye ever did - 'cos lets face it, what 'development' was there? I just hope you manage to achieve something interesting with this - i do think the treatment was a tad literal to actually engage any real interest for long enough and yes, i do happen to think you've missed the mark again. Penny, I am saddened and would have expected more, especially from you.

DL, I *do* remember your post well, as a matter of fact, as it confirmed that an idea we had discussed in 2001/2, when I came to SHOW, was still worth getting off the ground. So thanks for that, but since sound is one of the key things a website can do that print can't, I'm sure you'll agree that this trilogy of projects on 'The Sound of Clothes' is long overdue. Although we've talked about the Anechoic recording session for years (and had even started presenting it conferences as a project that 'we're gonna do', where the idea was always met with bemused wonderment), I'd long since given up hope of it ever happening. There are only a couple of specialist places capable of that kind of precision recording and they're expensive... Plus, I think we had secret doubts that it would actually work in any coherent way. For a long time we thought we'd do 'musical clothes' from past collections (like the Viktor & Rolf bells etc.) but once we saw the futuristic look of the anechoic chamber, we knew it had to be more 'science' and less 'fashion trends'.

Jonathan's not down for 'development', is he? As you might have seen in Dress Me Up, Dress Me Down, JK does killer research at the start of the seasons, so he gave great advice on tricky substances. The funniest bit was getting PRs to let me listen to their samples down the phone! Anyway, which substances did you think worked best in the broadcast?

Oh Ya! I watched today! Once again, that was terrific SHOWstudio. This medium is starting to make sense. I was only able to view a hour or so. Multi windows on my desktop with Zora powdering herself. Was that allowed in the chamber? I heard it loud and clear.
