i (hope) don't think hussein planned this as a publicity stint.
i think his purpose is to present his collection in a digital format, translating his garments through technology.

has the film got him more coverage than the spring 07-collection? The clips of the computergenerated dress is all over youtube and design-blogs...

If press coveage is the only reason for hussein doing a film instead of a catwalk then what is the future for fashion film? After the initial shock of seeing fashion in 2d instead of 3d whats left. Fashion film has to be amazing to change the attitudes of the estblished ways we see design. Are shock tactics becoming more important than the design?

Have you any idea how important it is to get press coverage for your show, maria n?
Fashion designers all need there shows to be talked about ,dicussed, argued over. The more headlines the better,it doesn't take away from the clothes or in this case how fantastic this film is,but Fashion is entertainment just like music or film.
Fashion film is going to be the BIG topic for everyone in the Fashion world for the next few years at least.
Times are changing .

am I the only one thinking he did a film because it's less expencive than a catwalkshow?

I know this was a factor ,but as he told me at the time he wanted to find a new way of showing his collection and he was excited by the ability to show his clothes in front of a much larger audiance.

I don't know where to start to descibe how much I respect your honesty and openess about the whole prosess in your projects Nick.
But sure, I agree that it's a smart way to show the collection to a much larger audience. I think you really managed to capture details and the more taktile side of the collection that's only possible with a film.
(take the Balenciaga spring 08 collection, which I think makes so much more sence when I see it in motion)
But why is there no report on style.com? I think it's a shame that they only cover the "classic" catwalk-presentations.
So far I think hintmag.com brings the best reports from the fashion-weeks.

...news travel amazingly fast :):)...but it has already being pointed out in the internet that Turquality, a Turkish promoter is no longer mentioned as his sponsor....
Being inventive in such circumstances can open the doors to exciting new ideas and challenges...like...READINGS does...that is what really, really matters in the end ...I believe
