how many shows has Pugh had? he's only been at it a couple of years, it's way too early to judge his importance to fashion. i rather like his clothes, actually. but whoever labelled them "baroque" is kind of an idiot. there may be elements of the baroque esthetic present, but why bother constantly referencing past eras and simply admit that his clothes don't look normal at all?
to the editors- i think what people are asking is that, after pugh, you give other young london designers some attention. doesn't sound unreasonable, and i'm sure you were planning on it anyway.
about the "clothes vs. costume" debate- unusual costumes are much superior to insipid "trends", which is what we usually see in fashion- real men wear flower prints! pastels are in this season! everbody wear bermudas! blah. i can wear bermudas whenever i want.
