It was anounced that Lord Litchield died of the motining of the 11th November 2005
Litchfiel was a house hold name in fashion photography in the nineteen sixtys, after spending about 16 years working for the American Vouge.
He was possibly just a famouse fot his conections with the British Royal Family.
Possibly not of major influence to the fashion industry, but at the same time a big player in the fashion photography fiel of the day along side Bailey, Terence Donaven, Barry Lategon,Cesil? Beaton.
He had resently moved from analog photography to Digital. As well as fashion photography Litchfield produced highly collectable calenders for some of the main producers, I can not remember the names at the moment.
As well as the names mentioned he helped to put a face to the fashion and photo industry.
Bailey and Lategon are still producing work and going strong.

A lot of the Saturday paper suplements where carrying pictures taken by Litchfiel. There where some classic pictures including a great shot of Baily smoking a cigarett looking slightly un kept in a suite with har all over the place taken in black and white, I must admit that I was imprest with a lot of his studio work.

I really liked his work in the papers too, what a shame he was one of the greats.

I think a few years ago there was a South Bank program made on Litchfield. It would be good to see this go out again as a tribute.

Last night I saw the tribite program made by the BBC on Lord Litchfield.
Litchfield seems to have been an interesting and quite genuin person.
I liked a lot of his photographic work, it was interesting to here from Terry O Niel saying that he thought that Litchfild was a better photographer having moved across to digital A few years ago.
Litchfield served in the army before resigning his commission to take up photography professionaly, starting with weddings and portraits before getting work from advertising and calenders and moving across to Vogue.
A lucky and privilaged man, a person of the moment with the conections to get the pictures of the right people at the right time inour social history
