Hi there !

Looking at the attached fabulous photo by Thierry Perez, I recently got obsessed with the idea to do a fashion shoot with a female model and an animal, possibly an iguana. I think that the relation between the human and the animal evokes emotions that are really special.

Does anyone have experience with animals on set?
I know that Iguana's can be pretty mean.

Would love to hear some opinions on animals in fashion
photography. (Obviously there is also the issue of animal cruelty, but that's not what I would like to discuss.) I mean, isn't Thierry's pic with the elephant
amazing and takes the photo onto a whole different level?

Extremely difficult to do I think. Animals don't take directions like humans do, but you can probably get something totally unexpected.

Hello Kawai !

Thanks for your comment.
Something unexpected can, of course, be really interesting, as long as the iguana doesn't bite my
model's nose off or anything like that. Hmm.
Iguanas are probably really bad at taking directions,
but would still like to try it, I think. Or may be I will start with a more domesticated animal. Dogs are our best friend, right?

Had a look at your profile. Looks nice the way you retouch the photos. May be we can insert a blurred Iguana and I just shoot the model? ...just kidding,
but really nice work.

All the best,
Chris

PS Do you know that kawaii means "cute" in Japanese?
Guess you do, right? ;-) )

The 2 digital artwork in my profile are not photos, they are all original drawings using photoshop as tool. The other two are paintings done in pastels.
Dogs are probably more difficult to direct since they move so fast.

On a note ....Great picture if it can also be used to make us aware of the wonderful beauty and pleasure animals, and in this particularly case the elephant, can give to humans if treated correctly, fairly and with respect.....something we arrogant humans tend to forget....please anything that helps to create awareness and why not fashion...... ?

She or He....must be having great fun to be the given the glamourous treatment for once ...like a real star the elephant is ! ...

Hi there !

Thanks for pointing that out. True. Of course, the wonderful beauty of the animal and the pleasure they bring us also shows. Good point. May be I can find an Iguana that wants to become famous ;-)

All the best,
Chris

Courtesy hasn't become "extinct" yet !................I can see.....:) :)........

A photo shoot with an Iguana wearing jewellery seems a great idea........and maybe easier to handle ... LOL ....:)

Hi Lex,

Thanks for your reply.
Sounds like a great idea ;-)

I tried to view the iqons site, but on my mac I only got
a blank white page. I have a Powerbook G4 and tried different browsers. Hmm. Will have to check on a friends pc in the next days.

I looked at your profile and couldn't find any info. Do you have work online that I could check out, or are you working in a different field?

Wishing you all the best for your future projects as well!

Chris

Hi Chris,

It is easier indeed to check IQONS with the Mac.....1000 times better to appreciate images than the PC....but you have to join IQONS first...M

My background is fashion.....but I did photography at FIT....worked in Paris with.....won a price at Hyeres.....won another price...etc etc......was involved in making the wedding dress for one of the Royals of the richest Royal Houses of Europe ....:) :)...LOL...then decided just to do my own thing....couldn't be bothered with the whole pomposity thing.....so I became a wonderer and work freelance now .....don't like the hustle .......but seriously IQONS is good for you to get acquainted with good people interested in the same field as you...and maybe projects....also check : http://dianepernet.typepad.com/diane/

All the best
