"Fashion can no longer focus on the beautiful young. An ageing population, disability, obesity and eating disorders have placed health and well-being high on society’s agenda. "

People like looking at beautiful young people. Always have, always will. I don't think this is going to change, it will always direct the market - unless forced to change by some kind of government mandate, which I think is a frightening idea.

Why is it never acknowledged that people understand the context of 'idealized aesthetic' (ie. more perfect then reality) when looking at photographs?

When it comes to these types of debates, why does everyone pretend the concept of 'idealized aesthetic' is something they've never heard of?

Are there really people out there who don't get that? If there are, wouldn't it be smarter to educate them in school on the unreality of media imagery? It would be an extremely easy and quick idea to get across.

Ultimately, that would be more empowering then a mandated and insincere 'inclusiveness' taking precedence over unshackled creativity.

uhmmm...! I was listening one day to an old lady who was opposed to having a section reserved on a beach just for elderly people in order to allow them to enjoy a day on the beach away from the busy and very loud youn crowd ... she immediately made known her TOTAL disapproval of such idea! .... by saying ' I come to the beach to watch the young and the beautiful ..... if just to make me dream '.....
