Reading your statement again Detly what is your interpritation of love.?
It is a very powerfull force that can be just as strong and de construcive when it turns to the emotion of hate. which seem also to be closely linked

Does anyone else find they are most productive when slightly melancholy? It seems as though it's difficult to produce or create things when one is in the throes of either extreme- be that happy or sad- who wants to pay attention to detail or invest time in something when the only person you can think about doesn't even know you exist? Or conversely, who can concentrate on creating something or feels the need to when they are in that object-of-affection induced euphoria? It's the inbetween, the middle part of neither being incredibly pre-occupied with sadness or happiness that seems the most fertile.
I realise the question was not discussing love in a purely relationship sense, but perhaps underneath everything (relationships, creativity, love etc) the above holds true?

joanne, i agree with you that many ppl, including myself, tend to be most productive when slightly melancholy. this is because slightly melancholy people are neither slitting their wrists nor doing anything interesting, and are consequently free to write mopey poetry and the like. sadness craves expression.
i disagree, chris, i don't think it's all about pashion [sic]. expressing yourself is one thing, but to confuse art and self expression is a big mistake. READ THAT AGAIN, EVERYONE!!! BAD SELF EXPRESSION ISN'T ART!!! frequently artists put too high a value on feelings, when what they need is discipline, originality, and taste. for example: Frank Lloyd Wright, one of the better architects of the 20th century, spent virtually no time moping about being emo.
i think people need to stop idolizing their feelings.
i also disagree, chris, with your statement:
"As creatives we all go through these emotions thats what makes us what we are"
because that seems to imply that non-creatives don't have the same feelings we do, or feelings at all. it also implies that feelings are what make us creative.
feelings don't make creativity. imagination makes creativity.

Uhmm ?..Interesting points of view...but why is a person more creative than other ?..or better said ...why does someone make the best of his/her talents?...Look at Van Gogh...or Andy Warhol...both with different motivations so to speak and yet both are icons in their own right.....As for Frank Lloyd Wright, I have the idea that he had passion for his Art and yet he must have “loved” doing it....not sentiment....Painters in general seem to draw from their inner state of mind and the passion for their subject pushes them to the limits, I think. But if you ask me, you could never produce anything unless it touches you ....decisions on a composition depend very much on how close you are to your subject and on how it stimulates your senses....I have noticed that from myself....unless I feel close to something.. for instance...a colour that stimulates the senses, a shape, a face, an statement I cannot pretend...so in the end it's all about feelings......But LOVE........love is just four letters word to express your affection for something....but it comes in so many, many shades.....and the closer it gets to the strongest shade then I assume it becomes PASSION... Then again this is my perception...
I always say that ' LOVE' is just four letters words with no tangible value and used so very widely as to cover the adds printed on paper bags”...
I prefer to say “I care a lot for ........” and then again I love creative people.......and the sound of the rain while sleeping at night........
