Knowledge can be self worthy as well.
Also why do you think Detlev doesn't practice it, from what I am aware of he is a writer, so surely that is using knowledge of some sort?
whats the point in knowledge , if we don't practise it, or atleast make a concious effort??
why do we all suffer from this ironc paradox,
detlev??

Talking of knowledge or rather sharing knowledge, It just occured to me that it was very strange what happened when I approached you regarding doing some retouching for me. I kept asking you who shot the Pirelli-esque shoot on your website and you wouldnt tell me,because "you have to keep some stuff to yourself". But given that you retouched those images for a photographer shouldnt you be telling people who he\she is. If someone saw my images on a retouchers website and they wanted to know who shot them id be seriously angry if the retoucher kept it secret. Bit unprofessional and very rude. I remember at the time i said forget it, and you said you didnt want me to think you were a prick, then i saw your dig at Detlev and it all came back.
And im not bitter because you wouldnt retouch for me for "Cheap or free" which i totally respect, but it has to be said that telling me to come back when Ive "Got a budget" is silly because firstly when I do have a budget ill spend it with someone who's already worked for me-for "cheap or free'
Secondly your range of work is not wide enough for you to compete with Metro, Shoemaker Elves or the independant retouchers im in contact with. Which is precisely the reason I thought youd be interested in showcasing more varied work in the first place.
But as you would probably keep my identity hidden from interested parties this would be bad for me anyway.
Just a thought..........

there was a great photographer called gordon parks who died in ny two weeks ago...he was...a documentary photographer,filmaker,novelist,muscian....outstanding in all areas...
he said
ive known both misery and happiness, lived in so many diffrent skins, its impossible for one skin to claim me,and i have felt like a wayfarer on an alien planet at times walking, running, wondering what brought me to this particular place and why?but once i was here the dreams started moving in,and i went about devouring them as they devoured me.
he was great!documentary photographer then films something completely different he writes, directs, and produces...SHAFT!ive been trying to see a film he made about ledbelly the blues singer for years but no joy so far

shaw those words were truly insightful, close to me and inspiring, im googleing the name Gordon Parks as i type (multi task),
And Turbo you still sound offended, listen ofcourse i don't mind giving photograpers names, but you are a photographer yourself right?
to suggest that im trying to hide the photographers name is stupid, but your point taken, my site is not even a month old, im revamping soon next week infact, il give credits to all the pieces.
freelancing is not easy, and you have no idea how much free stuff ive done for people and photograpers, you came at me out of the big blue, if i was to work for you for free i would have to have a good reason, and you have not prseanted one to me yet

being a writer dosn't mean you have knowlledge, in anycase when knowlledge is put into action (in life), you are then wise.

You totally missed my point-It wasnt supposed to be a random dig.
You advertised that you were looking for work.
On the forum that generally suggests a kind of colaborative offer, Like "model looking to test with photographers", not just advertising. Besides I was cool with you not being up for doing work for me for free, but as for giving you a reason to work cheeper I already explained that in my opinion your site could benifit greatly from including a number of big name musicians, and high end fashion that is very different from your current offerings, which i felt were good, but few and very similar.
Im not stupid to suggest you were hiding the identity of the photographer you worked with on that shoot. I asked you three times and you still wouldnt tell me-Thats really bad for the artist involved! who cares if im a photographer? If someone likes my work I want them to know who I am. Isnt that the point of a website? I mean Ive seen the images so If i was into copying how would the Photographers name help?
Anyway no hard feelings,I have plenty of help with retouching now thanks to recomendations and responses through the forum. (Cheers guys!)
