You're right, I think you should post another flower, because that was rivetting!

An observant person, photographer or not, could guess that Sebastion might be dyslexic and realise, or have had the courtesy, to keep their gratuitous comments about spelling to themselves.

Oh, and do you mean 'riveting'? Spellbinding.

Can we please change the subject. It seems such bad manners to openly discuss whether or not someone has dyslexia. Who gives a shit anyway, Sebastion is a nice guy with a lot to say. He has been contributing to this forum a lot longer than most of you, it's just plain rude to isolate someone because you are not interested in what they have to say.

Whoa whoa whoa! Institutionalized homophobia in Poland? Ktos naprawde musial wypic troche za duzo Wyborowej!

I think Poland and the other Eastern European countries mentioned in the EU resolution need to be looked at culturally to understand this situation. First off though, Kaczynski thus far has not passed any legislation and as far as I can read hasn't made a move to bring homophobia into the books. It's just a concern based on his previous record.

The way I would look at it, based on the fact that I grew up in Poland, is that these countries have A: A high percentage of highly religious populace B: Are sadly strongly xenophobic in nature and C: The former USSR states still have a Communist mentally ingrained in the older generations.

What all this adds up to is an underdeveloped cultural mentality on a few issues, homosexuality being one of them. Now, I'm not saying that it's a black and white matter, there's obviously a huge menagerie of ideals and beliefs within the country itself. A menagerie that isn't necessarily represented [or feared to not be represented] by the current government.

I'm also not supporting Mr. Kaczynski's stance on things. Just trying to maybe give you another perspective on the matter. The EU, by passing this resolution, undermines the country's own judicial and humanitarian systems to do their own job. There's too much at stake for Kaczynski and his goons to seriously start messing around. Then there is that familiar word "Solidarity".

With regards to Poland, albeit I do believe there to be a strong homophobic mentality , I also believe that there is enough of a modern world liberalism to oppose that. Look at the good ole USA. In one part of it, you have gay parades, and gay cowboys walking on the street on Oscar night. In another, you have homosexuals being dragged behind cars. Not a whole lot of pressure from anyone to do much about it. And THEY got all the guns. But seriously, Mr. Bush isn't into disco and there is a balance of sorts happening. If the USofA can figure it out on their own, why can't Poland? Latvia? Lithuania?

And I guess my point is that these countries are not as backwards as the press makes them out to be, although they have to be looked at from a cultural and historic viewpoint to understand where this problem originates. And realize that new ideas can't simply be forced down on the people. You gotta give it time.

a lot of it is bad education and the history of central and easten europe they were" ethnicaly cleansed"during the second world war dont forget if you were a jew or a gypsy you were sent to the camps with the contrivance of the local polish/hungarian/czech population..fifty years later on a building site in london a polish carpenter said to a freind of mine...."shhst....where are all the white people?"they come from a homogenised culture fifty years behind the times into a multicultural world..so to that extent they are backwards, very backwards.

My partner is severely dyslexic I type most of his letters, invoices etc. What I was pointing out has nothing to do with dyslexia just someone unobservant, and as valentine said I'm sure Sebastion wouldnt appreciate that being brought up. And yes he is a nice guy, what I mentioned wasn't an attack on his integrity and personality. Like Ben has mentioned many times, why so damn serious? Am I not allowed to point out when someone is being addressed incorrectly without a lynch mob fighting someone elses battle?! He is a grown man who can stand up for himself, which he does alot on here just fine. Stop treating him like a child!

Dyslexia is nothing my friend, I am slightly dyslexic, and so are a lot of the worlds top business people, but like anything else , it gives some people a snobish superiority over others, its a wekness in there eyes to target.
And yes it might have been bad schoolling in my case, my brother and my self had to bring each other up, from 8 upwards.
It is not a lack of inteligense though.
Its good that I can stir up so much emotion in people.Leroy eat your heart out

I'm glad youve said that because it's not something to fall back on yes it's a hindrance but by no means make you less intelligent from the next. That is exactly what you should be thinking, whether good or bad you stir up the most debate! Enjoy it I think it's funny!

Great post eucinpyos!

P.S. This is actually quite fascinating, if a bit quaint. I'm amazed anyone would consider dyslexia as something not to be openly mentioned in 'polite society' (I strongly suspect this kind of reaction is due to a misunderstanding about what dyslexia actually is? But fear not ladies, I won't patronise anyone by explaining). Elsewhere than this forum, Sebastion is in good company - for example, David Bailey is dyslexic. And don't get your knickers in a twist, he's said so himself in an interview. Not quite sure which, could be in the intro to the Bailey + Rankin book. Happy hunting!
