yes but since when was churning out truisms and platitudes deemed to be 'raising issues'? We all accept that we can't stop sebastion doing this so why can't we express what some of us feel about his choice of banal and unresearched subject matter? For crying out loud, he even says he doesn't have to back any of his ideas up because there will always be someone else to do it for him! what kind of a position is that?

F:lux, essentially I think that we are both right and there is nowhere that this can go. I just thought that Sebastion might want to re-address the quote of his that I re-posted.

Sebastion, if this forum is not the place to 'explain the situation properly' then why should this forum also be a place for you to bring up topics pertaining to the situation in question in the first place? (i.e if you're not going to explain an idea, why start a thread on it at all?) I'm afraid that is simply not useful to readers of the forum.

Secondly, it may sound arrogant to get you on a technicality but there is really no merit to refer to things that are 'vaguely' happenning. How about things that ARE happenning? Period. And how about telling us in the same threads, what happenned to these friends you know who have been ill-treated? What had they done? What was done to them? You don't have to give names, but it might open everybody's eyes to what you are so concerned about.

There's no point getting in a fight about this! Sebastion has backed off apologetically again, and again any 'issues' have already been submerged in bickering about whether he presented the topic comme il faut according to forum peacock of the moment.

Basta!

The issues Sebastion raised are important, the state of the world is a mess of course, and I do realise that without pulling my head from the sand. It's a great discussion, why not take it to the BBC political forum, where surely people won't question it's purpose.

'Deltley', I really enjoy your posts, just thought I'd mention that. It's nice to have a voice of reason, especially by somebody who doesn't relate themselves to King Kong falling from the Empire State building, as a description of their persecution for posting silly threads.

Oh, and I'm sure Flux will be able to provide a link to various political forums, within the next three seconds...

I read about the legislative and regulatory reform bill last week, and about institutionalised homophobia in Poland over the weekend. I didn't imagine there'd be an opening to post about either on the forum, and I certainly didn't look for them just so I could use them as examples to back up Sebastion.

Of course, posting snotty observations about spelling is always going to be more interesting than discussing topical issues, on a forum over populated by blinkered, self important cynics.

Go forth and find your own links

Sorry but I actually find it amazing when as a photographer, who are observant people and take note visually of things, doesn't notice the spelling of someones name. Albeit a made up name but just feel it's common courtesy to address people correctly, to me it just shows that someone itsn't really reading what is written, and shows an element of disregard! Moan over!
