The Fashion Killers:
San Francisco Designer Event in New York City, February 13 + 14, 2006

A collective of San Francisco designers of clothing and accessories are hosting a Fall 2006 collection presentation event at the Chelsea Four Points Sheraton on February 13th and 14th in New York City from 4pm-10pm. The event will be held in the U + Mei Lounge and Restaurant of the hotel, located at 160 West 25th Street. The hotel number is 212-627-1888.

The salon show is open to retail buyers, editors, stylists, photographers and members of the press. Guest djs Devendra Banhart, Will Lemon, Nozomi Phoenix, JT Leroy and the Audio-Visual Club will play music from their collections, with a special performance from "Daughters of Ishtar" belly-dance troupe.

Fall 2006 clothing lines will be available for order from independent labels How Wild Is Jane, Tinc, Mittenmaker, Miss Velvet Cream, and New York’s own I See Love. Accessories will be available for order from Zachary Pryor and Venus Superstar Jewelry. All clothing lines primarily are presenting women’s prêt-a-porter and one-of-a-kind designs, though there will be a few key menswear pieces available for order and a range of unisex casual wear items.

This collective of designers cover the range of San Francisco styles and communities, presenting quality avant-garde pieces that are unique, contemporary and at the edge of new design. Handwork, one-offs, vintage, deconstruction, tailoring, silk-screening, detailing, hand dyed fabrics and recycled materials are common threads. Natural elements and individually, artisan-made items characterize the accessories.

All of the labels are independently run and financed, and are united in a commitment to design quality, experimentation and community relationships. The Fashion Killers collective goal is to facilitate a relationship between independent San Francisco labels and designer retailer buyers in New York and internationally, and to promote local independent brands, designers and artists.
