Hi,

Anyone who is in London can see some of his work at the cork street gallery during the week of the 20 the June. I think he has a new exhibition of work coming up there.

I like some of his stuff and he has a definite style. I was really disappointed with his neon work for Selfridges though as it felt half hearted and didn't have half the impact of his photos.

Hi Sebastion, just a quick message to say thanks for posting this. You know how it is when you think you know someone's work because you can manage to remember their name? Well, that's what happened for me with David LaChapelle... Thanks to you I spent a happy hour looking at all the stuff on his website the other night and realising I didn't know it at all.

This forum is suddenly much more lively and interesting since you started contributing!

cheers, f:lux

''P.S. all kitsch is good. Bad is just plain bad.''

I disagree. I think even David La Chapelle has good kitsch and bad kitsch pictures :)

Ain't it lovely to, erm, what was the word, criticise ?

Why don't you look up the definition of kitsch in a dictionary? You might find that mine is much kinder.

I didn't say I liked all of LaChapelle's work.

This is a discussion Pony, so please don't take any of it it personally - because that would be missing the point completely! In participating I'm not trying to convince anyone or put anyone down, I'n just taking part and while I'm at it trying to understand other people's points of view. Including yours.

No harm intended.

f:lux, what i wrote was in a lighthearted manner, the last sentence was even making fun of myself. It was a moment of snickering at sitting behind a screen and criticising ''the greats'', if you see what i mean. I can now see that it can be misinterpretated, hard to convey certain things in type. And i do find there is good kitsch and bad kitsch, but that is, of course, just a matter of interpretation (and a persons taste).

To Flux and Pony I agree that it is great when we can get possitive feedback from creative areas without getting personel towaards others views, I am enjoying the possitive and constructive talk in this forum as well as learning about others in art.
