I’m thinking about starting off as a personal fashion shopper does anyone know how I do go about finding clients?

Depends if your going freelance or working for a company? I did personal shopping for a few years, and like most things it's about who you know and not what you know. If you get one good client that is well established in circles friends will follow, but if your working for a company it's a lot easier otherwise you've got a lot of ground work to do on the individual brands, and the type of client you want to work for.

You've really got to know your brands and the stock! if someone is going to spend thousands of pounds with you each visit they are going to want to make sure you know your stuff. I work for a fashion house and spent time personal shoping in paris. You have to know everything and i mean everything, people are not going to say I want a Dior bag and Prada Dress. You've got to know your cuts, materials, brand history, have creativity and that's saying that the shops are going to want you in there botique, and will be helpful to you . You also need be able to deal with some hard clients who may want to spend hours and hours with you and then not spend a penny. But saying that you meet some great people and can mix in some great circles.

If you want to do this on your own as opposed to working for a company, do a really nice add and post it in selected areas in London. In cafe's and shops etc. It depends where you live and what kind of woman you are targeting. I saw a good add for a personal shopper in Stoke Newington. In this area there are a lot of young professional/alternative types with children, women who may want to update their wardrobe after having a baby and want to look good. I can imagine your services as a personal shopper would be snapped up once the word spread around the playground!
I was thinking of doing this in Crouch End once apon a time!

I'd consider hanging around the George section in your local Asda supermarket, they carry a really great range these days. Just offer your assistance to customers, and help them select something that really suits them. When they've found that something special, give them a quick slap on the ass and drop your bussiness card into their shopping cart. Should work a treat hunni
