It's ultimately better because at least Google will say what information is being blocked, whereas with MSN and Yahoo! they don't let the user know what they're missing.
And you can use regular Google.com, but the Chinese gov't slows it down to such a snail's pace that nobody wants to use it.

I am wondering what the effect will have on google with the American Government, if they bend there own rules for China in order to break in to the Country, could it lead to similare situations with there stand of with the American Government and so break down the basick principles of what google stands for. In a global village you can not have boundaries set for one area that does not count for others,it is paramount to propaganda, and leads to cover ups which is paramount to taking us back to victorian times of control of information, it also holds a popiulation back and under government control, thats possibly why they realy want it, certainly the case in China.
I have not been to China but would like to go. I should think that every aspect of life over there is filterd through the system one way or another,the present need to control.
I think that over the next few years as China takes on more of the Western Ideals of doing things and sees there econemy grow then things will open up quicker.
I can see the oposit happening in the Western World as we are being dictated to more and more all the time. I think that a certain situation from the angle of America and the UK over the last three years has more to do with trying to keep the populations of these areas under control.
In Britain the system was begining to break down leading up to what was going on in Morth Africa, and a handy deterant was needed,( dont be miss lead in to thinking it was on Humanitarian grounds, our governments have very littal respect on Human life, it all comes down to costs and expendablity factors) Now that situation has gone to the back of the headlines, the situation that was hitting the headlines before has come back to the for front.
Sorry about being slighty evasive in what I am saying here, but think its for the better, So in order to keep populations under control of governments they will eventualy senser and monitor everything we do, this does not mean that there views are eny better than ours, but they will be able to control anything or anyone that dont agree with there views in the longer term.
So Google are having problems, shares have dropped dramaticly with what is going on in China, is this the share holders putting a strong message across to the company I wonder, to stay independant of politics,and boundaries.
I still wish that I had bouth those shares when they floated though.
Google has become the most dominant media organsation in only 7 years, this is bound to influence trends and fashion styles across the world, as well as politics and every other form of culture and lifestyle issues.
