Whoever has constructed the media truths or falsehoods based around 'jt' be it himself or others, should be irrelevant - the work speaks for itself.
From zeroh, uk, Tue Jan 10, 18:02 .I can relate to you in all aspects of this thread also enlightened me to some interesting points that I was unaware of, the WOF connection I beleive is not about sales of tees it is the intervention to breaking art kind of news ! I also think threads like these promote writers ? artists etc , hope cinemas sense of humour! did not offend anyone? I thank you all for your contributions its people like you who matter ultimately,as for the phone number thing it was certainley not cinema I beleive it was an impulsive reply on his behalf he is only human after all.sorry if that has spoiled this for anyone.I also think Sebastion could be right about the way they have used their strategies and will make these books into International cred movies ? very clever?

Shock waves roiled the literary world when apparent new evidence surfaced that finally could prove San Francisco? author JT LeRoy is not who he says he is. Instead of a former male hooker from a hardscrabble background, he apparently is a 40-year-old woman with middle-class roots or matbe that's dark roots in need of trip to the local hush ,hush hairdressers for some peroxide! Dave Eggers and Michael Chabon, appears to have pulled off the greatest literary hoax in a generation."I actually edited a story, 'Harold's End,' by LeRoy, and spent hours on the phone -- with someone -- going through a typical line-edit," Eggers said.
"I'm disappointed that I was misled. I'm still pretty confused by all this, but I do think, whatever the outcome, that the first two books are very well written," he added. Lemony Snicket -- the San Francisco author also known as Daniel Handler -- was bemused by the fuss.
"From the moment I first heard of him, there was speculation about his identity," he said. "So it doesn't surprise me that there continues to be speculation about his identity."
Handler believes there is an artist -- never mind who -- behind the work. "LeRoy's work is very much of a piece -- it's consistent," he said.
"The only question is, did the person who wrote these things have as colorful a history as some people seem to believe?" Handler asked. "That's a question you could ask about Jack London." I was wondering where the copyright details are held for the books and promo work for this person. Would there be a clue there somewhere.
My mother once told me when I was young, dont tell everyone everything about you, leave an air of mystery.
Weather the growing ledgend behind this subject is true or false, it shows guliblity in the way people want to belive things.
It reminds me a bit of the T.V program Space cadets that went out before Christmas.
Gulible members of the public where miss lead in to beliving that they where going on a mission in to space, as the first space tourists.
There brains where trying to tell them that things did not add up, but they wanted to go so much that they over ruled the logic in order to convince them selves that what was not happening realy was., interesting
