...oh and another thing, Straw Dog has just spilled the beans on the CSM curriculum there, he prints off forum contributions and uses that for his lessons.

It's shocking none of the staff felt moved, bet it didn't even put them off their vending machine cup of tea and liquorice roll up did it?

I sick to death of hearing horror stories of colleges within the London Institute. If students hate it so much then the students themselves will have to make a stand and get some order in that place or we will be talikng about how crap it is for the rest of our lives

Nice one Cymbeline, well put. And Ben did I say I used the forum printout for the lessons? And why is it shocking that none of the staff or students would be 'bothered' to join this forum, perhaps that says more about this forum than it does about their daily work. And no we don't have a vending machine, but the fresh brewed Hawaiian coffee taste divine, especially when one is smoking one of the complimentary Cuban cigars. Since you've didn't understand what I said perhaps I should explain the difference between opinion and experience... I can have an opinion on anything, but doesn't mean it's worth a goddamn thing, however experience counts. That is why I have a job, which I love. My duty is to share my experience with students who wish to take the opportunity that the CSM foundation offers. Any foundation course offers a wonderful thing, the chance to explore or as the psychologist Maslow said:

'The ideal collage would be a kind of retreat in which you could try to find yourself; find out what you like and want; what you are and are not good at. The chief goal of the ideal college, in other words, would be the discovery of identity, and with it the discovery of vocation"

Not I'm not going to claim that CSM is perfect, that would be insane, but it tries to do the best it can, and so do I. As tutors there will be the inevitable personality clashes with students, and it can be hard to tell students that they are barking up the wrong tree, of course it's harder for them to hear it than for us to say it. About 50% of the students who have enrolled at CSM that think they are going to be fashion designers have to face the tough fact, that they don't have what the other 50% do, and at age 19 that hurts, but as Cymbeline said what do you think it's like when they leave. Employers are not bound by the strict rules of conduct, welfare and ethics that we are.
I'm not going to get into a fight with you about if I'm a tit or not, although I'm often the first one to point out when my titishness escapes into the public domain.
Eucinpyos and Turbo, my point is that I actually work on the CSM foundation course, (which yes it has it's problems, but still it offers one of the best pre-degree art education in the world, and certainly has the most diverse range of students any where), I have no interest in hyping it up, I could quite as easily have contributed to this anonymous forum with shocking truths, the inside dope etc. I took mild umbrage to misinformed people misinforming about an institution that I'm delighted to be working for. I value my job, there's a long list of people who'd work for half the money to do what I do.

PS I was joking about the coffee and the cigars, although the canteen is really pretty good and cheap.

OK well I hope that's put your minds to rest. Ohh if you can guess my age I'll offer a free guided tour to the first one who gets it (first 10 guesses only).

I'd like to study fashion at CSM. What skills are required for it? Drawing? Sewing maybe smth else?
What age of students here? I'm going to have short courses for preparing a folio - is it helpful? Where can I get more information about studying (not from oficial site)?
