Am I the only one who on hearing 'global financial crisis' breaks into a warm glow?
I am thrilled at the potential of this recession to burn out all the dead wood of hipster culture and re-instill some sense of realness back into the creative process. Isn't anyone else glad that we're finally coming to the end of the cycle?
And what a dull eight years it's been. Since the new millennium turned, I've started to notice so much bullshit around me. For artists like myself, it is torture to watch vapid creative-types 'push the envelope' again and again with dreary, uninspired conceit-soaked projects. (Not to name any names, of course)
Surely when people start recording the sound of jacket zips or make pervy perfumes from sweaty boxers' armpits, you know that culture must be on its last legs! What all of the above suggests is that certain people have only too much money, and too little imagination to boot. Sad sad sad.
