The US presidential election

Showing messages 31–35 of 35

I guess the question to ask is who will win the election if voters decide based on which candidate they expect to do better in handling the issues? I came across a new research study that addresses this question.
The result: historically, voters chose the candidate they expected to do the best job in dealing with the issues facing the country. For 2008, the approach predicts Barack Obama as the election winner.
Read more about it at: http://www.forecastingprinciples.com/PollyVote/index.php/pollyblog/3/92-do-americans-vote-for-the-best-candidate.html

The PollyVote (www.pollyvote.com) combines forecasts from different methods and provides a singe prediction for the election outcome.
It has provided near-perfect predictions for 2004.

After what’s been happening over the last few years, I think that people are looking for hope, inspiration, and a change of polices, and someone charismatic to look up to.
I would think that Barak Obama is the only person who can offer this at the moment.
A very likable person.
I feel that it would be a disaster for America and the rest of the world if there was a continuation of the Bush type of administration. I still think that he should be charged for war crimes and crimes against humanity both in America and the rest of the world. To carry on in the same direction would be a tragedy.
I would guess that he has been the most incompetent President of all time

Bush is one of the least articulate, curious US presidents of all time. It's dangerous to have an unintelligent man as the commander in chief, and the executive in chief of a country. I don't want Palin to be a heart beat away from the president. She sounds like another Bush. She couldn't articulate why being in close proximity to Russia has any to do with being capable to deal with relation with Russia. She doesn't have the knowledge of global events, she couldn't come across as in command when doing a sit down interview, she blamed the press for the unexpected "got'cha " questions, she has only done 4 interviews and they have all been diasterious. That is enough to prove that McCain has very bad judgement in picking the most capable person to help him run the country. He has put party politics before the country.

I agrea .Not sure how a ton mentality can run the most powerfull nation in the world that controls the rest of the word when America voters go to the polling stations they should also be thinking on this scale.mI belive that Bush and his party have stylfled freddom of speach and expression under the name of a terrisist threat. We need to know what went on in Afghanistan leading up to the world trade centre attavcks I feelthat there has been a big cover up in possible attacks on villages out there. A nation can not have wars across the world with out come backs that is total arrogance and ignorance America has and is a very lucky Country, with great people.
As you mentioned anyone that leads America must have an open minded view to all aspects of society, culture, sexuality.religion,or non religion and have an insite in to world economics and politics. Two much damage has been done by America and Britan in the name of a Terririst thret which was possibly created by our nations in the first place.I agree .Not sure how a ton mentality can run the most powerful nation in the world that controls the rest of the word when America voters go to the polling stations they should also be thinking on this scale. I believe that Bush and his party have stifled freedom of speech and expression under the name of a terrorist threat. We need to know what went on in Afghanistan leading up to the world trade centre attacks I feel that there has been a big cover up in possible attacks on villages out there. I feel that Obama is the only man for the job at the moment, at least he is very charesmatic which has been a rare thing in Americ from a leader for a long time. Not since Kennedy.

I think leaders need to be moderates, not extreme on either sides. To use religion as the propaganda is appalling as many US citizens and residents are not Christians or have no religious beliefs. The US at this point doesn't have the financial resources to wage war anywhere they want in the world. All the credits are used up, even other nations are not willing put in financial resources to help to US to fight in Iraq. I think there will be a prolong recession, similar to what Japan had gone through. The next 2 years will be tough. US definitely needs to put the focus back to healthcare and education, as China just launched their space walk, which will inspire many young people into science and math, and the US educational system in the public schools is falling way behind, and the healthcare insurance cost will just force more families into bankruptcy and selling their homes. I think if the next US President doesn't deal with these 2 top issues at hand, and work on stimulating the economy by encouraging new industries such as green energy, US won't be the nation that would have the continuing influence to the rest of the world.
