Showing messages 21–30 of 30

jeez... then sure it's easier for people in my country to climb the ladder. because the labour cost is not too expensive in here, peole can easily start their own business, and if they're goos, it can easily spotted, some people have more luck from their connection, but some who don't can just override if they're good. do u know a brand called bagteria? it's a craft handbag brand, they also sell in UK and NY, it's an indonesian singapore based company. i heard they've been contracted by chanel couture some times ago to make handbags for chanel. also a friend from vietnam said that valentino or something hired a bag brand to produce for them from his friend there...

Cheers for all your commments! I would like to say that Robert always challenged his tutors and sometimes went to extremes with his work. He was given a 1st for his original concepts not for pleasing the tutors because he is not great a machinist, illustator which is what tutors look for almost always but his shapes and ideas are very ahead of trends and many times dissapionted tutors for not being mainstream. I am only on this forum to get him some work experience because he is not confident enough to sell himself and am HELPING A FRIEND NOTHING ELSE!!!!!! which maybe very hard for some people to grasp. Even so I still haven't got him some work experience which was the core subject.

Hi!

I don´t know if your friend have thought of this, but it could be a chance (you never know): http://www.itsweb.org
It´s a fashion design contest for young unknown designers. This way he could show his work to people looking for talents, and maybe in the future he can get a job.

Good luck!

Jean Claude

So this is what its come down to not work experience but entering competitions for a living might be a good thing who knows? He might win a miliion pounds or a speed boat, a thousand pounds every week for a whole year or even a years supply of crisps, like I said its all good.

I would enter a competition for a years supply of crisps, hopefully frazzles or skips.

iv been in lond 3years,im on the 4th..graduated from LCF last summer..and my stuff are as well in wghs from london graduate fashion week...those 3years got work placements such us roland mouret, louis de gama, jonathan saunders various stylists, mgazines, lots of foto shootings etc etc etc...i live in a big bedroom in central london and i work from in here making clothes as well and scarves...
if that guy...Robert is genious why he cant find an idea how to aproach designers and work for them?and if he does MA why he doesnt concentrates himself on that so he has a succesful collection instaed of working for others???
if Robert prefers to attend all the shows instead of making a move in the actual shows..and i mean backstage..by taking the season LFW little book with all the contacts from fashion designers etc..then send his genious CV to all the designers around london..which i guess they r more than 100...then im sure lots will get back to him..and lets say from the 100 designers 3 will accept him for work placemet..
the shows and after show parties in LFW are great..i do go almost every season and meet people and make contacts...tho it needs a bit of effort as well...

finaly..im gonna lounge my new collection for LFW this february, hopefuly show if i get the right sponsors..and im looking for a studnt to help me make patterns and samples...
here u go there iks a position for ur friend...
if he likes that tell him to contact with me...
