What does the future hold for charity shops?

Showing messages 1–5 of 5

What is the future of charity shops? Do you think that charity shops are a struggling market? If so, why? Do you shop in charity shops? If yes, what do you enjoy about charity shops? If no, what aspects do you not like? What do you think charity shops need to do to engage their customers and ensure their existence in the marketplace?

They need to operate in the way similar to all the other ones don't you think? Marketing, selling things people didn't realize they need, innovating packaging, humorous packaging, and selling good stuff. Online, there's the future.

I think the non-profit charity shops needs to be more creative in marketing, whether do a fashion show or animal fashion show, just think of more ways to revive, be more apealing to more people.

Over the last year I have put a lot of hours in to working for an animals charity shop in Plymouth. Over the last 18 months a li9t have sprung up and they are all fighting for the throw away products and clothing from the local area, some more efficiently than others, the ones that are not working quite as professional are effecting the chances of others getting gifts from people for the shops.
In this area of the Country it has got to saturation point and could lead to a collapse of some of the shops.
From what I have seen in general the are run just as professional as any other shop and in some ceases this is part of the problem as they take the gifts from the public for granted. I find it amazing what is given to the shops in bags collections.
We have had just about everything that you can imagine, from the best designer clothes to false willies and kinky wear.
Including some sex toys from the Ann Summers collection, which kept the volunteer ladies amused in conversation. (Not sure where these object disappeared though)?
