I believe that what has caused so much of misery is the lack of understanding about what we are i.e. how much we are driven and influenced by instinctive behavioural programming - if the Bible or Koran were the word of god why does god punish people for the way god made their minds work? If god was speaking to all of humankind why are only middle eastern animals mentioned? Why does god never say anything more impressive than what you'd expect some beardy, middle aged ancient to come out with????

If there's a creator, maybe the creator would say-"hey, I had never said any of those words! I had been napping all these times!!!"
Maybe the creator is looking at us the same way we observe ants, without any prejudice and judgement, and just think we all are so amusing.

... LOL !... but ants are far to busy working and building their own world and have no time to spare in pettiness and acts of cruelty just for fun or simply to be destructive like we humans are... and then I would say : perhaps when watching those ants we should be able to learn something from them in case we happen to observe them like GOD observes us... Perhaps or most probably GOD's 'cruelty' towards humans comes about because and .... by watching us! .... and we very probably have taught him something he got to like and enjoy in the matters of how to exercise cruelty... anything is possible... LOL!

In any case we do have something called CONSCIENCE ... that is of course if an individual happens to own one !... because people with serious cruelty tendencies , murderers, tyrants and all the sub-variety in the ' cruelty kingdom' seems to lack one .... When you come to think of it ... why is it that we humans tend to chose leaders from the ' cruelty kingdom' to be our ' saviours ', political ' thinkers ' moral ' guiders ', heroes ... and even more mind baffling .... objects of reverence and worship! ....

To put it roughly ... why do we always tend to go for obvious, tangible real human trash when it comes to such utterly serious and vital matters ? ...:):)

They are called sociopaths & because of their condition find it easy to succeed in business and politics. I've heard that an estimated 1 in 50 of us are sociopaths.

... that might indeed help to explain and understand such a ' mystery ' about the way we conduct ourselves in everyday life's ' business '

Kawai, have you read Ishmael? There is an idea brought forth in the book about the story of Genesis being a real story that was originally passed on in the traditional way [by word of mouth around a campfire], and it is the re-processed tale of the modern man as told by the then diminishing "primitive" peoples. The day man decided to pursue unnecessary mass agriculture, was the day money and greed and war began to spread its roots. To these "primitive" peoples, for whom life was somewhat similar to the North American Indian, people who sought possession of land to grow mass amounts of food seemed like a terrible sin. Outside of the carefully balanced life these people lived the only things important were now acquiring more land, growing more food with the use of underlings [people with food or land could rule], and selling or trading this food. Populations grew, as did the gap between those who had and those who hadn't. Somewhere down the line this all translated to feudalism, and let's not forget the many great civilizations that perished due to war and famine [famine being caused usually by too much land being used for agriculture].

Religion, at least Christianity, was introduced by Constantine because it played well with the Roman feudal system and was able to control larger groups of people without much effort.

Islam was created as an effort to unite the warring Arab tribes in the face of the looming Roman threat.

Religion and politics, for most of the world, have been and will be tied up for a long time to come.

"In God We Trust" is a great example of the modern strain that continues to haunt the American system. That and the Republican party. Haha...

My understanding is that Constantine was responsible for the Nicene Creed - origin of the Trinity doctrine that is part of the Catholic faith today.

... but I wonder aren't we still rather misguided indeed in the term ' Christianity ' ? . As I personally see it Christ's teachings are in essence one thing.... and ' Christianity' another thing because somehow along the line 'Christianity' became a kind of aberration (to use that term) and was hijacked by Rome in order to perpetuate their imperial rule ... just a wild guess :):)... so when I hear of Christianity in the context people talks today with its very dark and totally un-Christian past ... I think then that we are being misguided ...

Humility is very much part of the teachings of Christ ... but that is nowhere to be found in the character or symbolic representations of the religious leaders of the time .....

Caesar Augustus was the ancient title of the Roman Emperor, adopted by the Christian emperors after Constantine, and derived from Julius Caesar and from his nephew, Octavian, called Augustus, the first Emperor. Constantine the Great preserved the title, as did the Byzantine Roman emperors, and it was later adopted by the Russian kings called "Tsar", meaning "Caesar".

..... my 'speculative' answer would be ... absolutely NOT ! .. that state of affairs is a total contradiction and an anomaly in the matters of spirituality, is my humble opinion.
