I've been to see the face of fashion exhibition and particularly liked the photos of Kate Moss taken by Corinne Day in the early 90's. They just look completely natural. Has anyone else seen it yet? if so any thought?

i thought the paolo roversi pictures were good and well exhibited, but that the reverse was true for mario sorrenti....that his pictures were exhibited like a poster shop..bigger not necessarily being better..you could blame the curator?but its the photographers responsibility.
i liked the corrine day pictures .too.i found the exhibition as a whole with the communication the wrong way around..more effort on the poster than the exhibition itself..the merchandising/hype..in detriment to the photos...fashion is an industry..is the fashion media an industry?

Regards the Sorrenti section, it IS the curator's fault that they look like that because those pictures communicated far better in their original context. Those images of Julianne Moore, for instance, were such sophisticated comments on celebrity vs fashion imagery when printed in W (was it?): precisely the theme that the exhibition purported to be about. BUT, as you say, that section was preposterously crowded. So much as to say nothing at all.

Total triumvalism in terms of curatorial rigour: "look who we've got to participate", rather than "this is what Mario says about fashion/celebrity/portraiture etc., as opposed to the way Steven Klein tackles it or Corinne"....

The way it was all grouped, it was as if they are all making the same comment despite the different content. Which, of course, is far from the case...

I agree. It was definately too crouded. It didn't do the photographs justice, because the exhibition was taken in as a whole rather than individual artists and very seperate photographs. I loved the Julianne Moore images. I thought they were beautiful, and would have been even more so if theye were seperated more.

I think this is the most natural looking shot I saw. But at the same time it looks perfectly composed. Very skillful.

yeah i did get the impression from the curator that it was HER exhibition, instead of the photographers..her ego-mania and wankerism came accross strongly in the talk she gave..

exactly the point..."they"...counted for very little.. do you understand?..in terms of it being a curator-led show-be brave stand up..you can be a real person someday- i say that about your anonymous personna.
